The 17th San Francisco Arts Medallion event celebrates esteemed composer John Adams, whose prodigious talent and dedication have left an indelible imprint on San Francisco's performing arts culture.

With his unparalleled talent and unwavering commitment, Pulitzer and Grammy award-winning composer, conductor, author and mentor John Adams has profoundly impacted San Francisco's performing arts culture. Adams's collaborations with the San Francisco Symphony, where he served as its first Composer-in-Residence and wrote and premiered seven works, and the San Francisco Opera, which has commissioned and premiered four of his operas, have continually redefined artistic boundaries, infusing our city with a fresh and innovative artistic pulse.

Over the years, MP+D has cultivated a strong collaboration with the San Francisco Symphony and Opera, forging a trusted partnership. As a vital link between these esteemed institutions and the broader community, we play a pivotal role in their ecosystem, nurturing a profound comprehension and rapport with these organizations.

Your attendance at this event supports the mission of the Museum of Performance + Design, enabling us to extend our programming and offer greater access to the collection. With funds raised, we can continue to promote access to the arts throughout the Bay Area, ensuring that the spirit of creativity and innovation embodied by artists such as John Adams continues to thrive.

Join us in honoring John Adams's exceptional contributions and celebrate the transformative power of artistic expression. Your presence and support at this event are essential to maintaining the rich cultural legacy that artists like Adams have helped to cultivate in San Francisco.
